Well despite Samsung’s hopes, they’re not going to be the only ones with a 7in tablet this holiday season. That being said, say hello to the ViewSonic ViewPad. The ViewPad is going to come in two different sizes actually, a Galaxy Tab fighting 7in model and an iPad fighting 10.1in model (pictured above). So what are the specs? Keep on reading:

ViewPad 7

  • Qualcomm SnapDragon Processor (no mention of how many MHz)
  • 512MB integrated memory + microSD slot
  • b/g WiFi, has 3G abilities, just supply your own SIM

ViewPad 10

  • Android 1.6 (I just threw up in my mouth a little bit)

  • 1.66GHz Intel Atom, 1GB integrated memory

So there you have it. Please don’t ask us why on Earth ViewSonic chose to dual-boot Windows 7 with Android 1.6, we have no idea. One can only hope for a quick upgrade to Android 3.0. But I can tell you this, the ViewPad 7 sure looks like an attractive alternative to the Galaxy Tab. There are a lot of people who don’t want to pad $599 or $699 for an unsubsidized tablet, so $479 for the ViewPad 7 will fit the bill nicely.

WALNUT, Calif. – November 1, 2010 – ViewSonic Corp., a leading global provider of computing, consumer electronics and communications solutions, today announced its ViewPad line of Android-based devices, featuring the ViewPad 7 and ViewPad 10.
