The guys over at PocketNow and AndroidGuys managed to get their hands on some information regarding one of HTC’s newest devices. The codenamed Runnymede will be one of the first devices (like the HTC Vigor) to take advantage of the HTC and Beats Audio deal. The specs are currently listed as Android 2.3.4 overlaid with Sense 3.5, 768MB of RAM with 16GB of storage and a 1.5GHz single-core MSM8255 processor (same CPU as the Flyer), all on a massive 4.7-inch display. The 8-megapixel camera is said to feature a backlit sensor plus 28mm wide-angle lens for focal ratio of f/2.2, larger than the f/2.8 found on the iPhone 4. It is also said to capture a massive 60 frames-per-second in 720p video. Sound will be a big player with the Runnymede, which will feature SRS Surround, dual microphones, and it will also come with a pair of Beats Solo headphones – not earbuds.

In my opinion this isn’t a device to get all worked up about. If you are going to be stuck in a two year contract you would want at least 1GB of RAM and a dual-core processor. The camera will be nice but for me that isn’t a selling point. I have used Beats Audio in my Touchpad and for a mobile device the sound is incredible. However, audio quality isn’t a big selling point for me either. I have the need for speed and these specs just wouldn’t cut it.

Do you agree with me, or could you see this as your next device?
