Never mind the fact that Sprint inked a deal to keep their WiMAX network up and running for a few more years, it seems that the Now Network has realized that LTE is the future and are planning on joining Verizon and AT&T in that regard. A Sprint VP David Owens has come out and said that Sprint has no plans to release anymore WiMAX phones and that LTE is the next step for their network.

Now, the only phone that we have heard of that will support Sprint’s new LTE is the recently leaked Galaxy Nexus. Considering that there is only one city, Kankakee, Illinois, where Sprint LTE is up and running, it could be a while before anyone actually benefits from the fast LTE speeds. Should Sprint launch an EVO with LTE as their flagship to commemorate the original EVO launching with WiMAX?
